Is cutting the post in the TB bad?

I wanted to port a TB i have and I was wondering if I cutted the post under the MAF sensor was bad like Ironman did. Left side if a Before picture and right is a After picture. Need advice

I may be wrong but I believed porting his TB really made him run rich. I wouldn't touch it w/o a maft or maft+ and some scanning sw.
