  • dual exhaust w/ stock ground effects

Maybe a silly question, but I was looking to put in a borla cat-back on my 2000 Camaro which has the factory ground effects (rpo code Y3F). But when I look at them, there are no indentations for a dual exhaust pipes. The stock pipe just bends down so it obviously doesn't hit the ground effects.

People at LM say that I'd most likely need modification but wanted to know if anyone has any bright ideas for something like this.

I also have the sports appearance package, but if you look in the back where the outlets from the exhaust would go it is not really that much lowere than the stock bumper.

Most people who have an aftermarket exhaust with tips just have them stick out a little from under the bumper. I actually think the ground effects will make that look better since it drops down lower on the sides and kind of "frames it in".
The problem is that you could possibly scrape the tips of the exhaust when you go over a big dip or bump or something, but it looks to me like there should be plenty of clearance.

I saw a picture on the lm performance website, it's really for the wing but you can see the dual exhaust with the ground effects package.

I have the borla quad tips and the y3f on my 98, they come out even with the bumper (maybe just a little bit forward of it actually). They're below the bumper about 3/4" of an inch. Haven't had any problems with scraping. I had the y87 duals before that.

Yea I have a 1997 Camaro RS with the ground effects. I have Flowmaster dual exhaust and the pipes come out in the back just fine..

I was also wondering how much horsepower would a Borla cat-back system give you? Any noticeable difference in throttle response?
