question about MAF and MAS

hey guys, i am making my own custom air intake and am wondering a couple of things: first of all, does it matter EXACTLY where the MAS (sensor) goes on the replacement intake...or should it just be in the general area of where it sat on the stock intake? and also, how the crap do you take the MAF off...btw i have got a 97 camaro. thanks in advance guys.

There is no MAS, are you refering to the IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor?

Best is close to the inlet, but could go anywhere before the TB.
