I'm curious about the access to plugs now.... I've read in another thread that it's impossible to get to the #4 plug.

What's your take on this?

Easy...i did it just after installing the headers...took about 30 minutes for all 6. No probs.

Thanks for that info! It's good info to know if I ever decide to get some PaceSetter headers. For now, I'll stick with my tubular manifolds until I go FI. ;)

Notice any performance gain, or different sound in the exhaust. I have read a lot on them, but havent really seen any rating on performance or sound. Unlike the rksports model, which I think most people hated due to the leaks from the flang work. And you had yours coated, I read a while back, someone said the coating fell off, anyone had this problem as well? Cause if its going to fall off, I am just going to get the black ones, and deal with heat.

Thanks

I would say for your header install- get an Air ratchet with some swivle tips. I did it without the tips and did the whole headers in a few hours. The heatsheilds- Easy. Removing stock manifolds easy - ( Left the spark plugs in ) Putting on new headers, a bit of a pain cause I did the drive side without a friend, but the biggest problem I had was I took off the gaskets from the engine side of the manifolds and had a hard time getting them to stay, even with patrolim jelly. ( 4 gaskets per side ) Worst problem I had was I was afriad to break the EGR tube ( not knowing it is bendable ) and I broke a header bolt in the block cause they had to many miles on them- was just softly installing the headers and it broke. ( with a wrench ) not an air tool.

This mod is so easy I think its funny how like the 1st person to do it had never worked on a car before and said it takes a whole weekend and you need to jack up the engine and all this. There is nothing to be worried about- I had to cut off my old Y pipe and get a new one made and I had the headers on the next day from when I started.

I know this has been answered before, but I figured since the subject was out there I'd ask again. What all is needed in addition to headers for an install? Do you just need the headers, y-pipe, and header gaskets? Or do you have to buy a new cat, O2 sims or something, and all that EGR stuff? I'm gonna try to do headers after I get my gears installed and am trying to see how much I need to budget out. Also, will anything need to be welded, or can the exhaust connections be clamped to the y? Thanks

The headers come with everything you need in the box.

You can clamp the y-pipe to the cat, but I would weld it.

Headers are headers.... I mean, they sound good, but they are notorious for leaking and causing probs. I would make sure I had other bases covered before the headers. The install sucks and the gains are minimal, but hey, when you run out of stuff to modify, its the first "major" bolt on someone should do.

I did:
Cat back, intake, wheels and tires, thermostat, control arms, LSD, driveshaft, clutch, and many many more things before the headers.

I love them, but they are a little more "high maintenence" than other mods.
