Ignorant? No. You just have theories and laws. NOTHING that actually PROVES that this SPECIFIC motor LOSES exhaust flow because NOBODY has done testing to PROVE that our motors move more with specific systems. The ONLY testing we have to prove ANYTHING shows that a 3" system is better than people make it out to be. And these principles, laws, theories, scientific notings don't actually prove crap about our application. They are just a base of ideas to go off of to actually PROVE your point.. And until you actually PROVE with information saying that the 3.4/3.8 motors LOSE exhaust velocity and are not as beneficial as other setups..All we have to go off of are dynographs and timeslips of vehicles with varying systems. Period.

      Theories and laws?

You think I spend my life reading books?

      Step into my office:

By the way, why don't you do some testing with
your own car? Have you ever tried fitting a
higher flow catalytic using a 2", or 2.5" pipe?

Probably not; therefore you have no clue. Want
to guess why I have 2.25" dual exhaust on my 1980 Z28?

Because it was properly tuned on a dyno.

Maybe you should head into Physics class and fight
with your professor, or better yet, knock on Bernoulli's grave and question his proven scientific
      research.

People who setup engines use calculations and physics
to make the best power. They just don't flip through
a magazine, or jump on a message board and listen
      to the most popular response.

      P.S. Yes that's also my 1996 3.8L Camaro

        From MDChaser:
"Adrenaline_Z, I've got a turbo kit on the way (from FFF) and plan on running a full 3" exhaust (headers, high flow cat, 3" pipes). Is this a good idea? I'd like to hear some real logic as to why it's a good idea (and do you have any good sources we can read, I like that type of information)."

As mentioned earlier, a boosted engine doesn't
require exhaust velocity to pressurize the cylinders.

3" single exhaust on a boosted motor (+6 PSI) is
probably right on the money. Since the turbo will
be increasing manifold pressure, the extra increase
in pipe diameter wont affect the torque as much,
        nor should you care.

What you take away in pipe diameter will be restored
by the boost. You'll also need that extra volume
to carry the addition charge from the turbo.

one very informative one as well. Now maybe some of you will understand why I pushed so hard for this. It's one thing for one person to disbelieve and go on doing things the wrong way. but it's another when his unproven statements and instant BS calling attracts others like a mob to follow in his meandering journey to mediocre performance.

I have personaly never seen one. that would have to be an extensive model to pull that off. I did come across the general formula for figueing collector size diamiter. but thats all I have seen. Perhaps Tino has something closer. There of corse is desktop dyno and they like but I don;t belive thats what you are looking for. I posted a very "general" chart from magnaflows site to help pick pipe diamiter based on Motor CI in this topic as well. I also found a good article about the idea of true equal length headers.

Actually an engine shop and I figured out my engine setup for the new motor I'm building and a 3" exhaust on my current bolt-on setup works better than you make it out to work + it will be even MORE beneficial with my built motor. Maybe you've heard of them, they're a little company called JASPER RACING.
