Especially for 98+ V6s forget about it! The idea comes from the LS1 boys whose engines naturally run rich. Generally, the v6 does not. Removing the screen on a v6 has the tendency to produce a very lean running engine.

I agree with the rest. Leave it in.

I noticed a change for the bad when I took it out of my Z. It's back in now.

yeah, MPG goes to crap, at least it did in mine, immediate difference, as for power im not sure. You could always take it out really carefully, then put it back in when you see the results, its fairly easy.

                    I wouldn't bother with it.

Even if it did give you a gain which is does not, its such a little gain, its not worth screwing up a MAF, not sure what they cost on the 3.8L, but I know in general they ain't cheap.

Makes really no difference. I took mine out, and it ran the same as before. This is an endless debate though, so if you want to try it, pull it out, if it sucks, put it back, it only take 5 minutes, just try it. BTW mine is now back in for the Nitrous.

Put it this way - say it does work and you do get a rich condition? So what? For NA performance running a little lean makes power, not rich. It just wastes gas because it can't burn it all without letting in more air.
