• whats that racket? cat?

im almost certain its my cat; honeycomb stuff loose inside:

syptoms>
loud clanging at idle/low throttle.
when i hit my tail pipes, i can hear it rattle
when i kick my cat, doesnt move much, but it rattles a little bit.

dont have my warrenty papers
so what should i replace it with?
whats in there is a 3" carsound:
gonna go get my friend to check it out, probably confirm this

nope, the exhaust pipe rests on a crossmember above the PHR. mine will rattle against it at low rpms, or idle. I'm thinkin about wrapping that part of the pipe up in header wrap, or putting it around the crossmember. I just had my cat replaced, so I doubt that it's messed up already. also, if it was messed up bad enough, the ses light will come on, and ur car will seriosuly DOG.

got a o2 sim; how would it know it was messed up?

ill look into the crossmember; but i dont think it would rattle when i hit the tailpipe.

it'll vibrate against the crossmember, sounding like a rattle. my cat was completely cracked, and the O2 housing was messed up w/ it, so SES went up.

i had the same problem, it was a loose hanger bracket that was letting the pipe rattle

If you bought the car sound for 30-40 dollars, you have the cheaper car sound cat. Buy the ones for 80-120 and you get the stainless steel, much better quality ones.

Guys, I know i been pushing carsound for a long time on this board. But this just happened last night. My carsound cat just took a dump on me and started rattling really bad. THe honeycomb broke inside and I only had the cat on since last august. I probably only put 10k on the car. I read the warranty information and it said it doesn't cover it unless the cat is specified for my car or something like that. I don't feel like spending another 100bucks to put another cat on. And I gotta take a long road trip in 4 days, i don't want to risk clogging my cat. This sucks!!!

3" Carsounds Suck? I have the 3" Stainless-Steel High-Flow Carsound, sitting right here next to me.

Is that bad too? I am going to get it put on next month, with my headers (My headers should be here by then)

Should I go for Random Tech Instead?
