Will bad O2 sensor hurt performance?

Im throwing:
P0137-O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0153-O2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
P1153-Bank 2 Fuel Control Shifted Lean

Has anyone else had any of these codes? Do they hurt performance any?

The won't hurt performance a lot, but if they are not operating correctly, they are not sending the computer the correct A/F ratio. This will make the computer either dump in too much fuel or not enough. It will not be off by much, but will be off a little. Sounds like you need to replace them though.

It will hurt it some and your gas mileage and catalytic converter can suffer. I'm pretty sure I need to replace my sensors (and my fouled cat).

I've seen people lose as much as 40rwhp when both the front O2's are throwing the codes. Since yours is one front and one rear thoguh, I'd say you are killing perhaps 15rwhp or so. It is a big deal! Not only is it going to kill power because it is having to try and dump so much extra fuel in there to keep up, but your gas mileage is going to suffer as well. Replace th front ones as soon as possible. The rear one is your call, as it only makes your dash that pretty amber color (SES light).

Thanks for the replies! Hey Matt, I was wondering if you have performed dyno tuning with HPtuners on mild modded cars such as mine, and was there any gain.
My friend has a Lid and Rumbler and can take me from a roll everytime. All the mods are in my sig, but Ive changed the exhaust from Flowmaster to B&B.

That was 98v6's car, VERY imited mods such as a cutout and maybe a lid. Our tune gave him 10rwhp and torque across the board if you look at the graph, not just peak numbers.

Can you think of any reason why a lid and exhaust 02 firebird can be pulling on me? I have a major flat spot in second gear, if Im at 40 and punch it, it wont down shift it just slowly moves until it reaches like 50 or so than picks up quicker.
First gear seems solid as well as third but second just blows. Ive recently fixed some exhaust leaks and its helped alot but Im still getting my a$$ handed to me by a nearly stock car.

With the aftremarket stall an mods you have, torque management has got to be killing you. It's the reason I think auto cars, even nearly stock ones, feel as much or more SOTP gains from tuning than the 5 speeds. It KILLS power, and alot of it. It pulls timing for shifts to help prolong your tranny's life, and then starts to give it back. It very well could be part of your woes. That and then significant dips in the stock timing curve (random drop that is almost always seen on a dyno for a stock tuning car) make for poor performance.

But back to the topic, especially if your O2's are over 50K miles, I'd replace them. Definitely once they start throwing codes, even if it's only occasionally, they should be part of your car's maintenance.
