  • K&N or SLP CAI??

I found a K&N CAI on-line for about $100. I was originally going to get an SLP one .. but ..this one is cheaper, and seems pretty decent. Any thoughts?? What's the best 'brand' to get? I'm not made of money, but I'd like something good ... Thanks guys ...

I ran the FIPK2 on my 3.4L before I sold it to a friend that put it on his 94 Z28. Worked fine with me, just get the filter on right the first time.

Get the K&N Air Charger. I've only seen it for $250, and it is really great. I've read other posts about people unhappy with CAI because the filter gets dirty too fast. My Air Charger added 16 HP.

that was a concern of mine also. its pretty well covered under there, enough to let air in but not water. it doesnt even bother me now, i just dont go boating in my car....

The K&N FIPK will work with a 3.8, so long as you get the LT1 or 1LE intake elbows (which SLP includes with their CAI kit).

she's not talking about the FIPK... she showed me what it was on AIM a while back and it's a cheap homemade CAI kit somebody is selling on ebay with a K&N filter on it. it's parts that the guy got from a local hardware store and called it a CAI K&N kit and marked it up a little.

What a joke. Yeah, definitely go with the SLP kit in that case - getting a good kit from a reliable company is tops.

it is really a choice of opnion, both are good companys that sell good products that do the same thing. i know for a fact that with the k&n one puddles are no issue is blocked from the bottom. and im pretty sure that the SLP one is also. i have fipk and love it, if i had the slp, i would probally love it too.

Shiny black slp intake looks real nice under the hood, not sure about the KN. Performance differences are probably negligible, go with the cheaper one if your on a tight budget. I live in pothole country and have never had a problem in the rain
