  • Intake Noise?

Has anyone else encountered excessive noise from their SLP CAI? I've got a 97 3.8 and since i installed my CAI i will get trouble codes for the engine running too lean. Everything is in place like it's supposed to be. Would cutting slots in the plastic underpinning help get air to the engine and fix this problem?

im not really sure what you mean because i dont have a SLP CAI..mine comes right from the hood..but if your engine is running too lean that means you already have too much air..you need more fuel..it sounds like maybe the CAI is supplying the extra air but your engine isnt giving the required extra fuel?..my ram air sounds something like this..

So, would this be a fuel filter problem, or something else? I disconnected my battery to reset the computer and this still happens. I'm thinking i need to replace my fuel filter, or at least clen my fuel system out.

i wouldnt think the fuel increase would be enough to really tax the pump/filter that much..but possibly..it could be electrical too (MAF or o2 sensors)

I would check your fuel filter, it could have been bad before and the PCM just noticed it when the engine got more air. it is a $6 part and it wouldn't hurt. but like he said it could also be your MAF.
