Exhaust pipes rusting thru

The rear pipes on my C4 vette have rusted through. Ugh.

How well can a good welder weld up new pipe to rusted pipe? Is there hope to save what I've got, or would I need to pick up a new / takeoff catback?

sounds like to me you just need to replace all the rusted pipes.

Cheap fix is a Coke can and 2 exhaust clamps.

As for welding guess it depends on where it's rusted through and how bad the rest of the pipe is.
