    Hey i was wondering if anyone has the hooker or edelbrock cat backs on their 3.8's. i am gonna run headers and a hi flow cat also. i also have a 94 3.4 with pacesetters dynomax hi flow act and flow cat back and it sounded mean. so if anyone has one of those two id appreciate feedback, or a soundclip:)

    ive helped install a buddies Hooker catback, he didnt have a high flow cat, or headers, i personally am still undecisive about it. low rumble,anything over 3000rpms it sounds like a baby crying.
    never heard an edelbrock
    I will take on all comers...or come on all takers!!! Whichever you prefer.

      I liked my hooker aero chamber, but i also thought that it got ricey at the top end, i would recomend it though

        I heard the Hooker system on Camaro the other day at Wal-Mart and it sounded very nice. It's not too loud (then again, how much gas is he giving it in a parking lot?) and it sounds pretty nice at idle.

              I have an Edelbrock catback and I like it pretty good. Its alot better than some I've heard here in town, plus I couldn't beat the price.

                hows the idle? is there a rumble? does it make some noise? and how ricey is the top end?

                      The Hooker with a Borla XR-1 Bullet will eliminate all the rasp our engines could ever put out. There is also virtually no interior drone like a lot of the other cat-backs with my set-up. I'm adding a set of Pacesetters around summer so we'll see if that affects the tone much. I already have tubular manifolds so it shouldn't change much.

                      Again, get this setup and you'll be happy:

                      3" in/out Carsound/Magnaflow Cat &gt; 3" S-pipe &gt; 3" I-pipe (comes with the Hooker system) &gt; 3" in/out Borla XR-1 Round Racing Bullet Muffler &gt; Hooker Aerochamber.

                      It should all cost you around $500 total plus shipping. Hooker - $300, Magnaflow cat - $50, S-pipe - $50 from SLP or fabricated by your local exhaust shop, Borla XR-1 $118 from Jegs.

                      I also added some dual/dual round polished tips from Fast Toys but the Hooker system comes with some pretty nice tips to start with.

                      I'll have an exhaust clip as soon as I can, I finally got a camera that can record videos WITH sound :-P

                        Sounds like it would sound good. now it is a hooker cat back with a xr1 muffler added? where did you put the xr1, and also i thought the stock exhaust was 2.5 inch, so how does the 3inch cat work? to my understanding the y-pipe is only 2.5? thanx for the info, cant wait to hear it.

                          I put the XR-1 in the I-pipe, it does hang down a little but I've never had any trouble with it bottoming out, and I live on treacherously bumpy roads! The stock y-pipe is 3" when it goes into the cat and then it is reduced to either 2.25" or 2.5 on the way out, I can't remember which. I should some video/sound clips up by the end of the week!

                            The stock cat is 3" inlet, 2.25" outlet.
