Is there really that big of a difference between the TSP rumbler and the SLP loudmouth?

Yes. I'm in a hurry so I won't write the book right now. If others who actually run the Rumbler don't chime in before I read this again, I'll type the whole thing for ya

There's the summary. A bullet muffler in the I-pipe which reduces rasp and quiets the system down some. Also, the Rumbler's tailpipes are more adjustable, so that you can be sure the install is absolutely perfect! The LM only allows adjusting on one pipe fully.

i have heard a few rumblers and i have a LM... i think the LM sounds MUCH better, the tsp seems to get this farty rasp noise when revving... i didnt hear the thing under load, and im not saying that my car has no rasp by anymeans, ive changed out the LM resonator for a dynomax bullet and still am not happy, im going to try borla maybe, or have two bullets... or maybe one really long one... not sure yet.

but the slp doesnt have that fart noise... anyways my ultimate test for any car is, if the neutral rev sounds good or at least has not rasp or a tolerable amount, then the exhaust is good enough for my car... i want an exhaust that will be just good enough to rev and sound nice/tolerable, that way it will never sound horrible.

        SLP LM > TSP Rumbler

IMO, im biased and so is anyone with a rumbler lol only way to decide is to listen to some (sometimes deceiving) sound clips or to hear two cars with the same engine and mods with the only difference being the muff muff or trying it out urself. good luck!

From someone who has never had either of them (me), I can leave all biases out... and I'd say Rumbler. I've heard nothing but horrible sound clips of the LM except on some 383 strokers... but a 383 stroker is far off from any of us. The Rumbler just sounds meaner, deeper, and overall nicer. LM sounds like a pissed off straight pipe exhaust made with coffee cans. I've yet to hear a V6 with the LM that even sounds like a car.

LOL, DarkEcho...you replaced the resonator with a bullet...you don't have a LM! You have what is very near to a Rumbler, a Dynomouth. Did you notice the rasp getting better by putting the bullet in? Quieted down some???

Maybe all you other Rumbler haters have heard is bad sound clips. Listen in real life to two completely stock cars, or two with identical mods, and then judge. I have, so have many on the LS1 boards...it's a clear cut winner.

i have heard both of these in their unmolested stock forms in person and i have to give my vote to the rumbler. as onequick v6 said it just doesnt have the rasp of the LM and isnt quite as lout (its still friggin loud though). they both have some drone on the highway but from what i have heard in person the LM has quite a bit more. Now if you want the loudest thing on the street then get the LM. also i dont have either one because they are too loud and noisy for me, i got a ws6 take off and am more than happy with the sound (performance gains are almost non exhistant though). hope this helps a little.

Hey OneQuickV6 i have a couple questions for you about the Rumbler. Will i need any special kit to make it fit on my 3.4 like the loudmouth. How durable is the Rumbler because i live outside Chicago and damn snow is starting to pile up now.

I know what you mean about different tastes... there some some cars out there that you just cringe when you see/hear but others might love it.

Yup, still have the sub box. It's still holding good and the subs sound great. I installed a different aftermarket HU and now it sounds about 325435487 times better. Thanks again. :D

i'm pretty sure the rumbler is stainless steal so that would be fine for the snow. i also think you need an s pipe to make it work with the v6 but i could be wrong.

Actually the Rumbler is aluminized steel, not stainless. From all the feedback I used to get from customers up north in the snowy regions, it is not a problem short term (within 2-3 years) on most vehicles. And yes, you will either need an install kit, or have an exhast shop fab up the "s pipe" between the cat and catback. You'll also need the LS1 style exhaust hangers for the rear of the car, as they to are different (under $20 from GM).
