• New cai vs. old ram air

Today me, john (toast), and john's dad installed a custom cold air induction in place of my ram air box.
For before/after pics view the link in my sig...

Old Ram Air Box Cons:
1. Bugs in MAF
2. Kills Filter
3. Water In Engine
4. Takes Up Engine Space (relocated PS resevoir)
5. Air Box Heats up sitting on engine.
6. Air has long route/angles to travel trough.

New CAI Pros:
1. No Bugs in MAF
2. Cleaner Filter
3. No Water Inside Engine
4. Hardly any engine space (PS resevoir isn't hanging)
5. Pipe stays pretty cool through out ride
6. Shorter route for air to travel through
7. Car feels quicker, has a deeper sound, and makes a cool little air sucking noise

Nice, custom cai? I'm gonna have to check out those pics! You got a deeper exhaust note?

Err... link in sig doesn't work for me. Should it?

I'm not really sure about the exhaust having a deeper note but the engine sounds deeper when your driving over my ram air. Hmm I don't know why the link in my sig isn't working, it's definatley there. Try copying it and pasting it.

Only setback that I can see is the fact that the filter is in the engine bay so you will get some engine heat. Otherwise, VEYR nice looking.

LOL...ROFLMAO I think the old setup looks funny as hell IMO. It's a creative idea.

That cold air intake will do you better justice, good job on the install.

viper, your right about it being in the engine bay. I think it will get less heat though with the pipe not being that heated so it will be running cooler the last box atleast. We were thinking of cutting out some of the cowling underneath on that side maybee to provide just a little bit better air. And thanks guys for the comments. On my way over to john's house I would of never thought we'd be replacing my intake but one thing led to another, i couldn't of did it without them, they provided the pipe to me and helped me a lot. Thanks guys!

i did a ghettoized k&n cai over the weekend, and suprisingly the engine has a noticeably lower sound, and the throttle is noticeably more responsive. it's gross how restrictive the stock intake is, i didnt realise how bad it was until i looked inside the pieces of the intake when i took them out.
