• Side Pipes

I've come into some extra money, and I'm thinking of putting a different kind of exhaust on my cammy. What do you guys think of 3 inch sidepipes? I mean, I have the stock ground fx and cutting a little rectangle seems as if it'd look good. Plus less time the exhaust will be in the pipes. I dunno what do you think?

    Is it possible?

how could this affect a turbo setup?

It'd work - I've seen it done on LT1s and it sounds badass, I don't know how it would be on a V6 though. It might not be too bad considering a cutout right after the cat sounds pretty damn good if you ask me. As for turbo, its all depending on what your turbo setup will be.

probably wouldnt effect a turbo kit, unless u go with true dual exhaust, if i did it would have to be a completetly custom deal, could be fun though, i had thoughts of what mine would look like with side exhausts ever since i saw and heard em on a mustang...maybe instead of cutting a hole just cut like 3 inches off the back of the side rails and put the outlet there

I am not terribly literate when it comes to my car. But would it be easier to have true duals, or a muffler and dual outlets?

Would I gain more hp with that as opposed to letting the exhaust go out the back of the car?

Also, I think it'd look sweet to cut a pieces out of my ground effects, and have the exhaust there

          Let me know
          thx

if you can pull it off and make it look good do it, suggestion maybe usin gz28 tips out the side to fit the rectangle maybe' or the tips they used on the old old firebirds that was quad tiped but it dumped out on the side behind the tires those would look bad *** coming out of some ground affects

I was thinking about doing the same thing, the only real issue is ground clearance, though it is possible to fit 2 cats, and a couple bullet mufflers. It's be alot easier to do a true-dual setup, especially without cats, but if you want to do a turbo, you'll have to Y it off at some point. When you cut the holes in the ground effect you may also want to line them with a piece of aluminum sheet metal, and wrap the tips in some header wrap so you don't melt the plastic.

so let me get this straight. It would best to have it go, the cat, a 3 inch y pipe after the cat, 2 small mufflers, and then my side tips?

please forgive my ignorance. I'm still learning

and with all this, there would still be enough room for headers and my turbo setup?

Hey, I had the idea of sidepipes for a fleeting moment a while ago but i just had a light bulb go off...If you really want to do side-pipes, I think two small mufflers wont fit or may be a extremly tight fit under the car. So how about run two custom or homemade resonators similer to the slp design on each pipe.(Assuming your going to run true dual) Look at this SLP Loudmouth exhuast for the mustang. you could do a similer setup but exit the side. Right? (You may have to copy and paste)
