I like the design of it. I know for sure that it has that area precut where the FTRA would go. It has gotten mixed reviews over at LS1Tech, most don't go for it because it is new and somewhat pricey. Has a HUGE filter though, the same one that the LT5 ZR1 Corvettes use.

Try it. Those who don't like it are the ones who have had a lid/ftra combo and think you can get the same results with that proven combo.

Wow, so you have it already blackbyrd? You like it alot? How long have you had it? Did you have any other lid/ftra setups before this or is this the only one you have had?

i had the free air mod and the whisper lid before this but this one pulled a little hotter when i got it the only problems with it are the hose to the throttle body is kinda like cheap dryer hose and not parralell to the tb, the lid doesnt come off to easy and it hold the radiator where it should mine kinda leans back a little more since i did it but im gonna fix it with set screws

sorry left somethings out ive had it a couple of months now and i like it pretty good

oh yeha the opening in the front of the air box is big enough to stick you whole hand in under the filer when the everything is closed and the bottom of it is already cut out

what if you didn't want that whole in the bottom ("free ram air") is there a close off plate?
and it isn't parallel...like the wisper lid, you say?...hmmm

thanks for the info

post more as you think of it, please...and pics

no close off plate dont know why you would want one

no little worse than the whisper lid but it still rins better since i got it and the atm sensor is in the air box instead of right on the throttle body so it reads colder air

if you get a ram air hood then the box won't get pressurized...it'll just go out the little hole...

Increases torque and horsepower. Gives 17 hp at the rear wheels! (12 hp TO V6!) LS1's gain 3 tenths in the ¼ mile. Increases throttle response. Increases fuel mileage

Buwahahahahahahaha, damn I've seen it all.
A lid is a lid.
It is pretty basic.

but the air is available
although our engines only use about 350cfm
the throttle body is capable of pulling in 720 cfm

so its there if you need it
besides ram air doesnt help until you get going really fast any way but the free air mod forces the air into your intake more than a hood will so really you get more out of that mod
i bet that super sucker ram air kit would work wonders on our cars since it picks it up but some people are skeptical of it

Cut out the bottom of your airbox like the free ram air mod over at installuniversity, but don't cut the radiator shroud. Then, put 4 wide washers or a 1/2 inch spacer under the outer screws of the airbox. Do not put the 2 inner screws back on, and Voila! Same effect, lots cheaper. That big of a filter is overkill on our cars anyway.

i thought it helped and i had the whisper lid before i bought this and had the free air mod done before both. and the filter isnt much bigger its just 2inches wider and 3 longer
