  • Has anyone replaced that hose that goes between the whisper lid and TB?

That piece of dryer hose that comes with the whisper lid is a flimsy piece of crap and I want to replace it with something that looks better and flows better or the same. Anyone have any suggestions?

Oh, and I have a 98, so that stupid angled throttle body will come into play. :D

I did some checking around a few months ago. One source that has all kinds of hoses (some fairly expensive...) is www.ihozs.com for some burly looking silicone hose used for brake ducting.

The latest JC Whitney catalog has some large diameter hose now too. (3" and 4"). It is rated to 300 degrees.

Also I found this other site that has all kinds of elbows and connectors and things too, in the 3"-4" range. www.jagsthatrun.com

      Ducting
      http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Par...ing.html#table

      1. 90° rubber elbow, 4" i.d. .25" wall thickness.
      2. 90° rubber elbow, 3.5" i.d. .25" wall thickness.
      3. 90° rubber elbow, 3" i.d. .25" wall thickness. Stretchable to 3.5" with lots of effort.
      4. 45° rubber elbow, 4" i.d. .25" wall thickness.
      5. 45° rubber elbow, 3.5" i.d. .25" wall thickness.
      6. 45° rubber elbow, 3" i.d. .25" wall thickness.
      7. 90° rubber elbow, 4" i.d. .25" wall thickness. Same as #4. Can be connected to throttle body.
      8. 90° rubber elbow, 4" i.d. x 3.5 " .19 " wall thickness. Can be connected to throttle body and to #6.
      9. 90° rubber elbow, 4" i.d. x 3.0 " .25 " wall thickness. Can be connected to throttle body.
      10. 4" o.d. aluminum tubing.
      11. 3" o.d. aluminum tubing.
      12. 3.5" o.d. aluminum tubing.

I haven't done anything about mine yet... Also a '98. If you come up with something you like, let us know!

I have some good racecar hose that I'm using...I still have plenty left over. I paid about $75 for 10ft of it so I will sell it for the same price per foot + shipping. I can get pics tomorrow for those that want them. I used it to connect my Clear MTI Lid to my 98 TB and the stock box to the TB as well.

I'll call dibs on some pending some pictures and trip to the hardware store tomorrow. How much does one need? Like 1-2 feet? And I take it that hose is 4'' diameter?

4" diameter...its good to 600F too...1-2 ft is enough as long as you are careful and don't screw up. For a 98 I do recommend taking the lid off and hooking up the TB tightly and then hooking it to the lid and lastly installing the lid. BTW its a black hose with some light yellow cord where the wire is....but you will see that...it looks better than the dryer hose I had before.

Go to home depot... go to the PVC aisle...

they ahve rubber drainage hosing... with hose clamps on either side...

I haven't measured it up yet but you might be able to find a piece big enough...

I used it on my 3.4L CAI

It can be like 2in. to 4in. in diameter(internal diameter) and is about 1/4 thick if rubber.
