  • SES light comin on

ok the only time i've ever known of this happening is when i'm in fifth gear cruising around 60 mph.....And the ses light will come on for a while, then just go off....Or if i turn the car off and back on, it will go away...any reason or is the sensor just going out???

Ummm if SES light is coming on around 60mph or on the highway, it has to do w/ ur emissions. The o2 sensor after the cat is noticing something wrong.

I get it once in a while on the highway.

See if anyone around u has an auto tapper and can tap it when the light is on.

Probably because my cat is gutted....right?
And will that put my car into anti-performance mode? lol or whatever it's called when it backs down the timing or whatever

Ur probably producing more emissions than normal and the sensor doesnt like it. Not sure though...that would be my guess.

I dont know what happens when the sensors start getting bad, never happend to me yet.

My only advice would be is to have it tapped and see whats going on.

        Good luck.

After i got my highflow 3" cat, and i restarted the computer (disconected the battery for few hours) my SES light came on.. and its still here.. not sure if its because of the cat or just coincidence. I think its the cat, the O2 sensor, doesnt recongize the new volume of air comming in since pipes are bigger all around.

          so prolly trigers the sensor..

this may be a catalyst efficiency code, because you have no cat.

however, cruising at 60 you may also get a code because of improper EGR, improper EVAP canister purge, etc. probably emissions-related, but not necessarily dealing with O2S.

yea but at least your s#it doesn't blink at you when you are hauling as*. I even went as far as to put a piece of electrical tape over it because it pisses me off so much. But that was pretty ghetto so I took it off.

missed that. at any rate, it is probably an emissions code anyway, since it only comes on at cruising speed. generally this is where you will get emissions codes, particularly for egr and canister purge.
