How hard could this thing be? I'm building my own gauges ... but the TPS Tech can't be too hard ... It's $89, and you figure hte $25 ATM is just a resistor. So the TPS is probably a Resistor, and a chip ...
Anyone done this? Open yours up and see what's there. MAFT+ Next.

The more I think about it .. the more i wish i knew basic electronics enough ... i'm going to ask someone here. Think about it:
the TPS is a voltage potentiometer / resitor. Voltage vaires (linearly or geometrically -- to some equation, odds are it's linear) based on throttle angle. (I'm actually building a throttle angle gauge, which some companies sell. spring break project thats like six months old).
OK, Voltage of the TPS varies with throttle angle.
Working off the existing TPS, we make a circuit (voltage switch?) that is not activated when the angle (as a function of voltage) is under 70%, but is activated when over 70%. When it is over 70%, one single voltage (the max -- lets say 98%) is sent. (more than 100% throttle angle is an SES code)
Why 98%? Think of the throttle bump stop mod -- done because throttle angle is never fully achieved. So grind away enough to almost get a full angle, then add on a homemade TPS Tech (that's adjustable for 70%, 80%, 90%, 50%, etc), and you've got a slight boost in drivability / performance. Grassroots Motorsports replaced the throttle snail on their 944 with a disk (circular one) based on its linearity, and they liked it a lot. A thought for us ... [img]smile.gif[/img]
OK, i'm GOING TO MAKE ONE soon. I'll figure it out, wire it, and it'll be $5 damnit. $5. Not $89.
