  • ??? custom exhaust ???

I know that there are many benifets to having a cat back exhaust. im curious can a exhaust shop build a custom cat back exhaust. would it have the same power gains as a brand name one would have. also what would be a good muffler to use that would give it the loudest noise but not ricey. im just curious because im very tempted to take may car to the exhaust shop and have something custom done. any advice or info would be great

That's going to be as custom as you can get..unless you get more creative.

When you think about it, the two main things to consider in a cat-back are pipe size, and muffler. Therefore, all you need is a brand name muffler, and an exhuast shop can provide 2.75-3" piping for you. The noise difference is almost all in the muffler.

Nothing is wrong with making your own catback, it is usually a lot cheaper even though you often end up with crush bent tubing. Me personally? I dont care if its crush or mandrel, just so long that the smallest section of tube is large enough.

If you really want a mandrel pipe, just buy the Dynomax ones. They make an I-pipe and over the axle pipe, it'll still be cheaper than a cat-back in general. I'm with Dominic, don't worry if it's crush bent as long as the smallest diameter is still big enough. A 3" crush bent system would be more than enough.

try using a ravin muffler with the dynomax strait and over axle pipes. my brother uses a ravin on his truck and that mofo is LOUD! im thinking about doing this setup for my next exhaust.
