WEll its not a cold air intake, that intake takes the air out of the engine bay whihc is generaly hot. True cold air intake such as K&N and SLP go down where the filter is on that intake below the engine bay to get colder air. Hope that helps

do you really think the air temp in this location is that different from would it would be for the whisper lid set up? the v6 motor is mighty small with lots of air space between it and the front of the car. maybe, I don't know. could certainly be less risky in terms of accidental water intake that you can get with typical CAI when going over water puddles. looks pretty nice though. wonder if it would fit a 3.8L.

my setup is similar... My filter is in that location.

I have 3in. pvc piping, and filter that is easily twice the size of that one.

I also removed the plastic piece under the car to "vent" a little bit cooler air, up around the filter.

Take a trip down to your local Pep Boys and go to the ricer section. You'll find this intake kit for Hondas. It comes with polished pipe, shiney filter, and a rubber tube that connects the pipe to something on a Honda engine. This is either the same exact kit or something very, very similar. Kit cost around $30-$40 if I remember correctly.
IMO thats not a good place for the filter to be placed.

I have a very similar setup in my 3.8, I think it gets more air, but it is taking in hotter air than my stock setup. I kinda figure this because my gas milage went down a bit instead of up. I kinda wish now that I didn't loose my resonator for the stock air box :( . As for perfomance, I haven't felt a difference. It does, however make it louder and I can hear the intake sucking in the air I'm working on designing a homemade cold air with a PVC, so I bought it basically just for the filter, I only paid $10 for mine though.
