  • Breaking in new mufflers?

I just put on my 80 series flowmaster muffler and cat back system and it sounds ok, sounds really ricey like a fart can when im cruising under 2200 rpms, ive heard that the sound will change over the next 500 miles, is this true? if so how much will it change? thanks

it will get deeper but the rice sound will not go alway,You will have to get a resonator for that.

Hey man, I didn't notice that much of a change in sound when mine burned in, but it isn't that bad. I don't know which cat you have on there, or stock one, but I know on the newer camaros what your talking about. I think the tubular manifolds play a role in this, where as mine barely sounds ricey because of the restrictive log type ones. If you do switch out the cat, it probably won't help that much, thats just how our cars sound. Headers though will probably fix the problem.

The 80 series will always sound like crap. That's one of the reasons I threw mine away.
