  • No exhaust installed--- AGAIN!!! *HELP PLZ!!!*

****ing hell!!!!! All i can say is I have no damn luck at all. Ok the last time I ran around all day looking for someone to make me an adapter and no one could... so then I order a catco cat and bring it all over to Monro today and we look at it and he says he can probably do it and he will give me and my friend a call after he looks at it. I asked if this install (cat and tsp rumbler) would be less than 150 and he says he dont know.

So we leave my bird there and walk to the mall nearby and spend from 10:30 til about 1:30 there... no call. So I said well i gotta get going and u need sleep (my friend works nights)... so we walked back. I see the car still sitting in the same spot, not even moved.

I went to the counter and some dude comes in and I said I dropped off that firebird this morning to get an exhaust put on and well i didnt think it would take all damn day. So i said I want my keys back cause i gotta get going (long drive)... so he says I didnt get a chance to look at it yet, sorry and to bring it back later. I explain again i am only bringing it here cause i am VISITING my friend. I live in the other side of jersey... so i grab my keys and leave more pissed off than ever before.

I get a big *** migrane headache after that and well to make a long story short, I gotta find a place near me (south jersey, swedesboro area) that will do this without bull****ting me. I knew they would try something funny cause #1 I am a girl and #2, its a V6 so why all the 3 inch pipe??? LOL

Can anyone recommend a shop that will put on a 3 inch catco cat (its 14 inches long), S pipe (slp installation kit) and TSP rumbler with no problem???????????

I need help here. every shop i have gone to arent giving me what i want. I was even gonna pay 30 bucks for an oil change today too. **** em.

I cant even tell u how long ago I had bought this exhaust. I never thought it would be sitting there for so long... ARGH. I want to bolt it all on myself... Can i just do that, cause I know I can do it.

Also, this was a great opportunity to waste one vacation day-- for absolutely nothing. Plus my buddy will be dead tired at work tonight. *screams*

oh ok... thanks i will look that place up. i want to put it on myself but i am afraid the catco cat is a bit too short than the stock so that means i would need a few inches of 3 inch pipe welded to the new cat.

          still pissed about earlier. grrrrr

Listen, the biggest problem is that you're taking it to a chain. Forget abuot all of that -- monroe, meinike, Midas, pep boys , etc.
Just find yourself a performance fabricator / shop / etc. We have F-Body Central / Performance Auto Fabrication here in MD, and Kent Island Speed. Either would gladly do any fab work, etc. You just don't get service with those chain shops -- they'd rather sell you a $500 "factory" replacement exhaust.

Stop taking anything, EVER, to chains.

I just started night work (4pm to 12 midnight). If it can wait about 2 weeks, bring it to me. I'll weld that son'za-B_otch on myself.

Only thing is that you might need to install another O2 Bung on the muffler. The shop I took my TSP to today cut one into the pipe right after the cat.

never try to get into a shop on friday/weekends. most shops around here are first come first serve and the weekends are busy. make an appointment if possible earlier in the week. or find a shop that will let you make an appointment.

that being said, i hate shops. just like i hate mechanics. i only continue to go to the local goodyear tire shop because they will let me make an appointment and usually keep to their time estimate. they arent the cheapest but i do get service. (they also dont like me bringing my own tires. "hey, where did you get these?" "duh, the tire fairy?").

Depending on how skillful you are, and what kind of tools you have access to. You can do it yourself. I have done two Catbacks myself. I just use U clamps temporarily, and then I find a shop with a welder, and pay them about 5-10 bucks a weld.

The good thing about that is you can take your time to get it to hang correctly.

A good tip to getting you car worked on imediatly is to hang around the service bay and watch them work. I think they feel presured to work on your car so you will stop watching them work. Plus they
normally will be more careful, when they know your watching.
