  • Has anyone written a DIY for O2 sensors yet?

My SES light came on this morning. I took the car to my buddy Dave to get in scanned. Both of the Denso high bank O2 sensors that I replaced about five months ago are shot. We are unsure why that would be and the car has been running fine every since.

I'm going to replace them again myself. Has anyone written a DIY with or without pictures for those who may need a little help?

I have all weekend, minus the Bengals game at my buddies house.. If it hasn't been done I would like to see what I can do and possibly make it a "sticky".

    Later..

not really much to write up for a DIY write-up.

    1. crawl under the car with a 7/8" open end wrench.
    2. take out 02 sensors
    3. put in new 02 sensors and tighten with same wrench

    done. lol.

And as for the revision, put anti-seize lube on the threads. Other than that, there really is no need for a whole page of write-ups.

Re: Has anyone written a DIY for O2 sensors yet?

Considering the large amount of "02 sensor" threads that showed up when I searched the topic and the amount of questions asked over the past few years, it occured to me that a write-up/pictorial would be helpful. What may be an easy task for some of you is apparently difficult to many others. Not to mention the O2 sensors failing is a common problem with our cars.

What does this code mean? What O2 sensor should I buy? Why is it stuck? How do I remove it? Blah blah blah.. and a guide wouldn't be helpful?? If thats true, why are there "sticky" write-up's for other miscellaneous b.s. that could potentionally be less important than this topic?

I don't find it funny. Since I offered help and got shot down I'll retract the offer. Please accept my most sincerest apologies.

no those threads are for o2 codes and driveability which are always an issue. Not for how to unscrew an o2 sensor from the manifold which requires a socket and a wrench. Pretty straight forward for those that look under the car before posting.

hence why I love threads like these.

I suppose that I agree with you. Is there a thread that lists all of the codes and what they mean?

what they mean varies as different things will cause the code to come on. Not always one issue leads to one code. Hence why so many threads, solutions vary across the board depending on each car

All the new O2's I have installed already have the anti-seize on their threads , its a gray paste on them.

Lol harsh man. Harsh. But to answer your question...

                            1. Get two slice of bread and put them on a plate or paper towel, whichever you prefer.
                            2. Get a knife and spread the peanut butter on one slice.
                            3. Do the same thing with the jelly and other slice of bread.
                            4. Slap the two together and you have a PB&J!

I don't know if that's totally right since I despise peanut butter and I've never made one before but that seems pretty reasonable..

                            :D
