  • Pacesetter y-pipe on a 3.4 fouls frame

    Hi
I fitted a set of pacesetters to my 1995 3.4 'Bird a month back and have been meaning to post on a problem I have but only just had time to get round to it:
The Y-pipe fouls on the left-hand side on the cross-member under the engine so it looks like the only answer is to raise the engine on its mounts, by about half an inch.
Which is the best way to go about it?

    All the best
    Malc

PS yeah I know about the oil leak - I think it's the pan gasket.

Hi, this a pretty late answer, but if you have not fixed it already, this is what i did.

I cut of the pipe that bolts to the collector and rewelded a new turn on it so it has about an half inch clearance to the crossmember. Not an too complicated task, but if you do not have an welding machine, an exhaust shop could probably fix it for you.

And in the slip-on joint to the Y-pipe I welded to big nuts on each joint and put an bolt in the nuts and tightened it so the slip-on joint stays together and also help keep the exhaust away from the crossmember.

It could possibly fix the rubbing issues, whit only the bolt "trick"

Hope you understand my explaining, if not I could try to take pictures.
