What are the differences between these two Borla mufflers?

    Re: Borla Differences

One is a transverse design muffler (40474):

And the other is a straight-through design (40349):

Both should work on the car, but the transverse is more of a direct fit. I have both types for sale here for less than what Summit sells them for. One is the 2.5" transverse and the other is a 3"/2.5" split straight through.

Do you think the straight through design would have alot of rasp? I am always hearing that Borlas sound amazing.

Like pretty much all non-stock exhaust, there might be a little rasp, but a good high flow cat or resonator should help tame it to minimal levels. The Borla Pro XS mufflers, either straight or transverse, tend to have a good mellow sound (until you get on it) but will also help to cover up the rasp.

Here's what a 3"/2.5" Pro XS sounds like without a cat or resonator. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLy6m1DApeU

I think the traverse is the way to go. But I am going to go 3' not like the 2.5 you have. Wish I did the 2.5 though cause you could save me alot of money.

                  Re: Borla Differences

buy the muffler and have a shop fab you up a catback, it's cheaper.

just get some headers, they come with the y-pipe 3" and it doesn't come with the cat.
