Can someone give me examples of how a partialy clogged cat would act? Mine was making some odd noise a while back (has since stopped), and I am just woundering if some problems I am seeing might be attributed to this.

    Re: cat question

Reduced performance at high rpm will be one symptom

Your check engine light on will be another.

Sometimes a restricted cat will rattle.

      ^ Those.

Also check the flow coming out of the muffler. Little or no flow will be a sign of blockage in the exhaust.

An overall feeling of loss of performance can also be a symptom. The car may feel "doggish" or lazy.

question, but how long would a partially clogged cat last?

i have a rattle, and its been there for over 2 years now, when i smack my cat with a hammer i can hear stuff inside it rattle

i have always felt that my car is sluggish, but it only has 200hp, and im pretty used to higher horsepower cars
