  • Need to replace the intake manifold gasket

My car was leaking coolant like it was going out of style. When I put water in the radiator, water literally came pouring out the front of the intake manifold.

I took it to a guy I know, and he said he was unable to repair it, and recommended someone else.

That throws two big red flags:

    1. This is going to be abnormally expensive.
    2. Will this require the engine block to be pulled?

If the answer to number 2 is no, then how difficult is this to fix myself?

depends on if the coolant was leaking into the cylinders or if it is just leaking out the coolant elbow on the front of the intake and not the intake itself. There is a plastic elbow that is prone to cracking on our intakes and coolant runs through it

its a PITA but nothing you can't do in a weekend and no you do not have to pull the motor..

      take your intake off
      fuel rail
      upper intake
      lower intake

then put it all back make sure you have everything before you get started though because alot of parts you have to order

      Fuel injector o rings
upper and lower intake gasket set
      black rtv
      plastic coolant elbows

It's not leaking into the cylinders. There'd be smoke.

maybe, maybe not. Depends on how much is going into the cylinder.

But first check that elbow out and see if it is coming from there

I agree check the elbow... Mine was leaking when I got my maro earlier this year, they break VERY easy and that would deffinantly do what you are describing. It is under 5 bucks at autozone and it is not really that hard to change.
