  • Ram Air for v6

Ok so I have a 96(lt1 style), I just got the factory ws6 hood and I'm trying to find a ram air kit that will work for it. I've spent hours searching and can't come up with anything, anybody know who makes a kit for my car? And could the v8 or 98-02 kits be modified for mine? Thanks

maybe you should be asking me :wavey:

It's a Suncoast creation ram air kit. It's not the stock ws6 ram air kit that came on factory ws6's but it is meant to fit the ws6 hood or the aftermarket hoods that are subsequently made to act as the ws6 hood.

Problem is that Suncoast wants an arm and a leg for their kit (think like 400 $) so you will want to search ebay for a used kit. Mine was 250$ IIRC and it came with a k&n kit. I DID have to modify it however, but it really wasnt that hard i was even able to keep all the crankcase vent hosing and sensor ports etc.

more pics... much better than those ^

there is a guy on this board who helped me out a ton when i bought mine (blindeyed), maybe he will chime in.

Very nice. Well on sun coast's website they say that it wont fit the 3.8 due to the maf, did you have any trouble with that?

no, because the 3.4 does not have an MAF

if you have an MAF your in a whole nother ball game. You will want to look more specifically into kits for the 3.8 and maybe kits that came on the 3.8 firebirds after the year 95 or 97 i can't remember which.

and isn't the MAF inside the throttle body on your cars? if thats so, i don't see how it would affect using this kit...

                  Re: Ram Air for v6

Yeah the maf is in the throttle body, Im not sure why suncoast says it would create a problem then. Put the tb is a little offset from the center. And I have been trying to find a kit that is specific to the 3.8 and the closest I've found is some crap from fast toys that picks up air from the bottom.

Yup. its angled. and pretty damn close to the radiator too so theres not much clearance. But maybe I could fab something like you did?

That looks like it's just a lid setup, not the ram air setup. Honestly, since you have the angled throttle body, it might be a little tough to fab a way to hook up a WS6 intake. You're probably going to have to use some flexible tubing to make it work.
