  • How to remove....

How do you remove the center console/cig lighter/ tape/cd holder on a '95?? I'm trying install my fan switch and would like it to go above the cig lighter. I can't figure out how to get the cig lighter off in order to run the wires and drill the hole. Thank!!!

A Haynes manual would be a wise investment.....

Sounds like you just want access to the cig lighter wires. Just remove the clip from the back of the lighter and remove the console. The console is primarly held down by bolts inside the armrest compartment. Take those out and it should come up. Then all you'll have to worry about is the shifter and e-brake handle. You might be able to get to the wires without having to remove them. Since I don't know what a 95 Camaro console looks like I can't go into more detail.

Ya, and get a Haynes manual :D

Only thing I could suggest if moneys tight and you don't want to buy a new drill with a bigger chuck use the biggest bit that fits the drill then use a smaller bit and walk it around the edge till it is big enough.

Drill the hole as big as you can then file it, or do what jtigger said, its only plastic.

Maybe try a reamer that get progressively larger? Should make a nice cut...
