  • 305/350 question

alright up till today i assumed the 305 and 350 are 2 completely different blocks however someone told me they are the same block cept the 305 has a smaller bore...............so when i tryed finding info online i found that the 305 and 350 both have the same stroke however the 305 has 3.74 bore and the 350 has 4.00 bore.....so my question is are they the same block or are they 2 completely different engines?

    they are the same block...

yet for some reason...you cannot bore the 305 into a 350...

this is what i've been told, so i'm not 100% sure.

call a machine shop in your area.

They are different blocks. If I'm not mistaken, if you bore a 305 block out to a 4.00" bore, you will get into the water jackets. A 305 uses the same cam, lifters, timing gear set, intake, etc. and fits where a 350 does, but a 305 can not be converted to a 350.

^ what he said. I've been told that the safes a 305 can be punched out is a 331 stroker. That's it, but if you put a T76 on that then you are running low 11's to high 10's
