  • SES light stil on after heade instal???

As Ipsted before after I putth headers and y-pipeon I ket gettin a SES light. It would come on for a couple daysthe go off then came back on. It done ths for a lil while, but now its on and hanst went off. I had a leak fromh EGR and i fixed that. Theni had a leak before th cat at the y-pipe weld then fixd hat but i think itmay stillbe leaking a bit. I alo replace a plug tht I broke while istaling the haders and nne of thoe turned it off. I took my pogrmming off and went to hav it checked by a mechanc and t dint show anythi besides the misfirig plug. I also unhooked my battery hoping to reset the ECU and it took SES ligt off for a bit thn came back on. I may try to clean my O2's wit some carbon/brake cleaner o see if tht help. Wel guys tell me wht you think it may be and what I can do to fix this problem. Thanx guys!

I have the same problem. I was told it was because the headers flow to fast for the egr.

dont get new o2s unless they are the ones on the headers themselves. get o2 sims for the ones nearest the cats. its like plugging in 8 hps and my car gets good mileage. 32 on the highway

they are cheaper than o2 sensors and will never go bad. never had a problem and i have a punched out cat. works good.

summit $88 for two...ive seen cheaper elsewhere but dont remember

Hey i have the same problem with my 2k2 bird.. itook it to thee dealership and they said that it was because the air passing through the headers is to much for the o2 sensors and it cant read it proporley. I dont know if your 2k1 has the same set up as mine but i only have 3 o2 sensors. one in each header and one after the cat... so o2 sime wont help us at all. talk to your local speed shop about mving the header o2's to the collector and it should turn of the light....it will get a better reading...
