• Performance Chip?? Please read.

Okay, who in here has a Chip on their car? What do you think of it and what has it done for your car? Any info on this subject would be helpful. Thanks!

Can't add a chip to a '96. GM came out with the flash memroy PCM in '96. The PCM will have to be reprogrammed by a computer program, you won't be able to just "swap" chips!

I have a stage II Jet chip in my 99'. I noticed a little better throttle response, slight increase in gas milage, and I haven't yet been able to reach the speed limiter. Other than that, no noticable "power" or horsepower gains.

I have a '93 3.4L V6 and noticed a little gain with a JET Stage 2 chip. I took it off now because of my cam and the other mods...I think I might actually have too many mods for the settings on the chip. I am sending my PCM to Ed Wright @ Fastchips to reprogram it before my rebuild is finished...that's supposed to add quite a bit of power.

I just talked to my dad on the phone about some chips. There were a few guys in the shop, before it closed, dyno'ing their car and whatnot. We could hook into those chips and download what they did to the computer, or on some only view what they changed. Some of the Jet Chips that came into the shop didn't change a single thing...
I would go with a fastchip, but I don't think he can do one for a 96 so you might have to take your chances with a Jet Chip... Do a search on them, you will find a lot of people who were satisfied, but a lot of others werent..

At the end of Part Three, we changed the valvetrain of the 3.8-liter V6 in the Tom Henry RS. We installed new, Yella Terra "Ultralite" 1.8:1, aluminum roller rocker arms, Katech valve springs and Katech titanium retainers on our 3800 Series II V6.
Ultralites are nearly 25% lighter than the stock 1.6 rockers and 8% lighter than the SLP aluminum...
