    Re: fuel pump access

I bought a pump on Ebay that was different than the one in our '99 V6. Make sure the three line connections are the correct size, the return line did not fit on my Ebay pump. I tried to make it work with the new pump and the old plastic cage off the old pump - it did not work.
There seem to be at least two different pumps for these cars.

Start the hole in the trunk roughly in the middle, then shine a flashlight in there to see where the pump is located. That's safer than only assuming the pump is mounted further towards the front because it's a 2000 vs a 1998....

Rustoleum, slicone and duct tape is good enough to close the hole - it's under the carpet and nobody can see it anyways...

Try www.car-parts.com - that's a nationwide recycler database, i found a used pump that actually fits and works (tested and with warranty) for $70 shipped - one of my favorites now....

      Re: fuel pump access

Racetronix sells a pump for our cars. They told me Part #: W1-FPA for the 99 v6 camaro. I guess its the same as the W-body, since this it what this pump is listed for.
I'm waiting for a reply about it being and direct replacement. I think its a 255lph pump as well. Anyone know anything more about racetronix pump?

        Re: fuel pump access

I took the two pumps that I had apart and it is very easy to swap the pump itself - of course you cannot just buy the stock pump and have to spend $350 for the entire assembly

If the Walbro pump fits that's definately the way to go.

Here's a pic of the stock GM pump (right) and Ebay junk (left) - note the different size plastic connector (the one on the left):

I used the new pump with the old plastic bucket and it wouldn't work.... so it did not fit AND did not work....
