  • Heat Shield Rattling

Massive rattling noise when the car is running. I looked underneath and the clamp is completely seperated from the shield. It like broke off. I think im just gonna take the heat shield off unless there is some importance to it....should i take it off or fix it?

this isn't the heat shield for the CAT its a few feet down the exhaust towards the muffler.

It's attached to the car or pipe?

Getting my Cat removed Friday and running a straight pipe, I'm fed up with my rattles and my performance might increase too, due to almost no restrictions in my exhaust setup.

My heat shield did that and I took it to my local muffler shop and they fixed it in like 2 minutes and didn't charge me anything.

the heat sheilds on the cats have always been a problem. i just pulled mines off my carsound cat.

if your talking about the one right about the muffler i would prob leave it. as the muffler can get hot and the heat would rise right into the car.

The only heat shields I left on my car are the ones around the fuel lines.

Well, did it today "Friday" Cat is gone. Car seems to accelerate better and exhaust sound running through the straight pipe to my Flowmaster 40 is deeper and louder. WOT performance seems to have picked up too. Also, the idle has smoothed out some too.

Interior is intact, except for the lack of rear seats and a head unit. I have a head unit that I'm going to dissect and just put the faceplate in there. People at the track don't believe me when I tell them my car is less than 3000lbs.

Yes I think I know what one you are talking about it's about were the rear pasanger seat would be and it is about 6in long and sits on top of the exhaust. My car radels too. But I have yet to take off the heat shields. I am debating if I should take the heat shields off.
