  • Power Window Question

Wifey's 02 TA has a power window issue.

I have not dug into it yet but thought I would ask some questions first.

What happens is the window will go down very slowly. Then when you try to bring it up it will go slow and start slowing down even more until it stops. usually about half way up. If you immediately try to take it up again it will not. But, if you let it set for a minute it will go up about 1/2 inch then stop. Again the longer you let it set the further it will go up. Also seems to be worse on hotter days. On the hot days you can let it set for a long time and when you go to push it up it will only move about a little. I eventually get the window up.

To me it has to be the motor but just wanted to throw it out there if anyone else has ever experienced this with a Pontiac or any other car for that matter. Car only has 16k on it and most of that has came in the last two years. If it is a motor is this normal for something like this to go bad so quickly or some other reason here that we may have caused?

    Thanks, Mike

it is the motor. without a doubt. it is a common issue

you need to remember, just cause it only has 16K, it is 5yrs old. not the newest thing around and things break down with time as well as use.

Thanks guys - Appreciate it. So it must not be too bad getting into the motor and replacing it? Some cars are a pain in the butt.

http://shbox.com/page/windowmotor.html If you follow this it isn't too hard. I just did it a few weeks ago. The hardest part is getting those screws in the little holes.
