does it come on once you start coasting or let off the gas? thats what happens to mine. the only way your going to find out is to get use a trouble code scanner. i would say do the paper clip trick but it only works on the '93 model camaro's. go to your nearest auto store (auto zone, napa, bumper to bumper) and see if they have a OBD1 scanner for you to use.

        Wild guess. EGR-related.
        Just get it scanned.
If it's egr related, you may want to clean out the built-up carbon with a coat hanger and a vacuum before you throw another egr valve at it.

again, just taking a stab in the dark.

i doubt we have the same problem but my check engine light would always come on after like 15 miles and then stay on, and it was the egr valve. kills my gas mileage too. just my 2 cents

first i waqnna thank you all for helping, i was able to come accross a scanner and it gave off a couple of codes,
            O2 censor
            EGR
            ignition system circut
poor voltage to the fuel pump
i was told to fix the fuel pump first, it may be effecting the other problems, we'll see what happens

did you notice a change in gas mileage? especially with the o2 sensor and egr valve codes being thrown i would guess so

well, i would def get that fuel pump checked out first and foremost, then worry about the other stuff if it still presents a problem fer 2 reasons: 1 that many things RARELY go wrong at the same time, and 2 cuz since the o2's measure emissions in the exhuast and the egr operates based on exhaust temp (i think, correct me if im wrong) if you're leaning out cuz of a faulty fuel pump (or wiring) then its gonna confuse everything else. make sense?

best way of solving the problem, come to think of it... write down the code numbers as they appear on the reader usually a # and then 4 numbers (i.e. P0101) and go to a dealership, find someone like at the parts counter and ask them to look up the codes and diagnostic info and ask them to print it off. you should get a flowchart sorta thing about 5-10 pages long fer each code. its what the techs at the dealership use so if that doesnt work, i guess you gotta live w/ it :(
