Ok so everyone else is posting starting issues so I thought I would jump on the boat. this started about a month ago and has been bugging me ever since. here goes.

first I am driving a 1996 camaro with a auto trans.

most of the time it starts right up not even 4 or 5 revolutions and it fires, BUT if I miss the first fire for somereason (I.E. just not paying attention, let go to soon, ETC.) the car will not start for roughly 20 to 30 min no matter what I do. I have tried everything I can think of on this. checked wires and plugs, reset the PCM, checked for fuel at the rail I am out of ideas on this one. anyone have any sugestions on this I am begining to think I might have a pcm problem.

sounds like a fuel or spark issue, what happens when you try it during the 20-30 min period? cranks but wont turn over?

yes it just cranks but if I let it sit for like 25-30 min it will start like normal.

If it was carb'd I'd say possible vapor lock. But I don't recall FI cars getting vapor lock too much. I've heard crazy things happen though.

have you tried the Ignition Control Module?

no I have not checked the ICM but that is a thought. I am also going to look into things like the ignition key. Does anyone know what the result of a key that has a bad chip in it might be?

theft light should blink while it's cranking.

well the drama continues the car totaly failed to start tonight and is currently sitting in the walmart parking lot it just would not start. I thought thatit might be a warm start problem but I am stumped on this. I am going to try to get it home in the morning and hook it up to the laptop and see if there are any codes.

First thing I would do is to check for spark only when that problem occurs and also if the Fuel pump motors when the ignition is switched on.

Well I FINALLY hooked up my auto tap to the thing and found that my crank position sensor is what is causing the problem. What I am a little bit upset aboutis this code gets set in the computer but it DOES NOT turn on the service engine soon light. I find that a little odd. but at least I know what it is and it is only a $30 part. the bad thing is that I have to pull the harmonic ballencer off to get to it. OH WELL. guess it is back up on the ramps for the green machine. I also wanted to say thanks to all of those that helped me with this.
