  • WAT THE HECK is THIS SOUND??

Well i had my dad's mechanic friend come over and take a look at the 'ticking' noise that i've been experienceing for about 3 weeks now. He said it is comming from within the engine, inside one of the cylinders. I forgot the term he used but he said that the i could keep using the car until i either get a new engine or get it fixed... what could it be???? thanks.

    valve clatter perhaps, piston slap

who knows you can't diagnoise an engine just by a noise. You have to open it up and see what is going on.

Could be a lifter issue. Readjust your valves. It's pretty easy.

Is it a loud tick? Could it just be Injector tick?

How exactly do you go about tightening the rockers. I've noticed some ticking and tapping. Maybe this could help my situation a little..

Pull the valve covers and wiggle them with your hand. You will have to turn the engine by hand to get to all of them. You have hydraulic lifters so you should have NO GAP at all. If you find gap, Tighten the nut on top of the rocker until you get 0 lash, then another 1/4 turn.

If it's a flat lifter, adjusting the valves won't really help the situation. You'll need new lifters.
