could be a multiple of things. exhaust leak, sticky lifter, fuel injectors, etc.

Does it go away when the car is warmed up?

sounds like it could be a sticky lifter then. Have you ever tried seafoaming a car? That might be able to burn up that carbon in your engine and keep the lifter from ticking.

the parts store, and you use your brake booster vacuum line, which connects down by your master cylinder.

the problem does sound like a lifter, could be bent, ect..

If its just a quiet ticking then I wouldnt worry. Lifters probably getting tired. My motor made all kinds of ticking and clanking then when I changed my oil instead of all castrol gtx oil I put a quart of lucas in and all noise stopped and oil pressure is higher =). Perhaps try that. Also dont get a fram oil filter, they are junk. Consider WIX.

+1 personally I buy Mobil 1 filters, but thats because I get a deal on them $5 instead of the shelf cost of around $15-20.... But WIX is another good one!

Same problem I have a noisy lifter, and its really annoying.

do NOT put lucas in your engine, it bubbles up, and ruins your oil pump

i had a ticking noise also. i listened to the engine and it was coming from the spark plugs. a few of them were loose and it was making a ticking sound.

Maybe the noise IS the oil pump.

I guess so? 25k miles with lucas and my motor/oil pump is running great. Good oil pressure too. That test on bobistheoilguy is a crock.
