  • uh... oops!

ok, about a week ago i changed out my steering rack cuz the old one was leaking like a mofo. i was going thru a quart a week! i got it all done and aligned and everything. then i went to the auto store and got some degreaser cuz since the thing has been bad for about 2 months i had considerable sludge built up around where the rack is. i sprayed that stuff all in there nice 'n good and it was POWERFUL!!! it ripped thru a good 1/2 inch of thick road grime and sludge like it was nothing! only problem is, it also stripped off the black coating on the rack. is that thing gonna rust on me? do i need to get some paint and repaint it really quick or should i be good?

I'd probably hit it with a shot of Rustoleum just to be sure.

What kind of cleaner did you use??

it's called purple power. it cost like 6 bucks for a big ol' spray bottle of the stuff. i'm used to all the labels saying "ultra concentrated" and "super citrus action" and crap like that. this one said "industrial strength" and on the back it said to wear gloves so i figured i'd give it a shot. i never thought it was like that! i seriously left the stuff on for like 3 minutes and hosed it off. everything is bone dry under there now. it even took the oil stain around my filler tube out!

At the end of Part Three, we changed the valvetrain of the 3.8-liter V6 in the Tom Henry RS. We installed new, Yella Terra "Ultralite" 1.8:1, aluminum roller rocker arms, Katech valve springs and Katech titanium retainers on our 3800 Series II V6.
Ultralites are nearly 25% lighter than the stock 1.6 rockers and 8% lighter than the SLP aluminum...
