  • ticking noise

    lately just recently i have been hearing a ticking noise from under the coil packs it gets louder as i accelerate but i have no clue wat it could be ...sticky lifters idk ? and also the cars rpm jumps around at idle like from 900-1100 back and forth maybe once every other start but stays like this for a while.... ive done a complete tune up theres nothing i left out!

    sounds like a lifter/pushrod.

    not much you can do without taking the valve cover off and checking

      ??? yeah you can... a sticky valve is gonna show up in a vacuum test, and if you wanna tell where the ticking is coming from, take a piece of hose, hold one end to your ear and the other to a valve cover. its like a stethescope but cheaper and just as good. you'll be able to hear exactly where the sound is coming from.

        so he can fix it with the valve cover still on?

          At the end of Part Three, we changed the valvetrain of the 3.8-liter V6 in the Tom Henry RS. We installed new, Yella Terra "Ultralite" 1.8:1, aluminum roller rocker arms, Katech valve springs and Katech titanium retainers on our 3800 Series II V6.
          Ultralites are nearly 25% lighter than the stock 1.6 rockers and 8% lighter than the SLP aluminum...
