  • Brake Light Problem

Both my driver rear tail lamp sockets were rusted, so I decided to change them, that was 3 weeks ago. I used some cheap advanced auto sockets, I changed the other side about 6 months ago and had no problems.
Well on this side now the brake lights turn on 80% of the time. Sometimes when I brake I can see that the lights aren't on, I see this by looking at my reflection on other cars. I reinstalled them, making sure all the wires touch each other and are securely electrical taped. Most of the time no one says anything, but just today this lady told me they were out, then when I park and check with my friend, the lights are fine. I went to get my inspection and they said that my bulbs were out, but I told them that the bulbs are new. Anyone know what is going on??

oh BTW when i installed them my stupid *** cousin had the emergency lights on, so when I cut teh sockets off it smelled like some burning stuff, but it worked fine.

I would check your brake light switch, which is located under the steering wheel

I just had the same problem it was the grounds on the brake/turn signal bulbs sockets. It is inside the sockets so you have to replace them.

thats what i did because my stock sockets sucked, this sux I bet its the advanced auto sockets that are ****ed, but recently I noticed nothing is happening, it lights up all the time and I have yet to see it not light up in the past week, I hope it remains like this cause it is way too damn cold for me to replace the sockets again, takes about 15 to 20 minsutes since I do it al careful.

Do you have a part # for those sockets I rigged mine so they will work but they need to be replaced. I went to the local advance and did not see the sockets.
