  • I AM TOTALLY STUMPED!!! EVEN WORSE NOW.. 3 weeks later.

ok so i changed plugs, wires, coils, and now injectors..

when the car is cold..it runs suprisingly smooth until i reallly hit the gas hard.. then it stutters.

when its warm, WHENEVER its under ANY load, it misfires pretty bad..

but when i keep it steady... lets say at 45mph in 4th gear (5spd), there is NO misfire or any hesitation...

wtf is wrong with my car!!

if i take it to the dealership, can they find out exactly whats wrong with my car with their scanner? they said they'll only charge me 50 opposed to 80 for it... will this scan be worth it? could bad o2 sensors really cause misfires that bad?

You did injectors, but have you checked fuel pressure??? It sounds like an ingnition prob. to me, but lets cover spark and fuel anyways.

Is it ever hard to start?

is there a way to check fuel pressure without getting a fuel pressure guage? i dont have the money to dish out for a fuel psi guage.

You can get a generic pressure gauge from like sears (tool section) make sure it goes to like 100 psi.... then get the stuff to adapt it to the shrader valve on the fuel rail. It was only like $15...

Wow dude this sucks... as you know I have the same problem, but I'm just going to install wires tomorow and see if it helps... it could be so many things it's not even funny... bad fuel, fuel pump, fuel filter, clogged fuel lines, injectors, bad ignition module, bad central computer, bad ignition module, bad distributor, bad coils, wires, plugs, bad or clogged cat converter, some bad sensor.... heh.... sure a lot of things. I think it would be wise investment to go to the dealer, pay once and let them pinpoint the problem, since they have all required tools for that.

                              hmmmm

I would look at the O2 sensers, TB senser, fuel pump and fuel filter. Any one of those could be the problem. I would not take it to the dealer now. You have already spent a lot of money and you would spend more money at the dealer then you would to just to find the problem.

if you have a good friend try his o2 sensers before you buy them. You might also check the junk yard. Try this second.

You can clean the TB with a spray can for $5. Try this first.

Check the fuel presure. If its low, replace the filter. If its still low, replace the pump. try this one last.

Thats what I would try anyway.

At the end of Part Three, we changed the valvetrain of the 3.8-liter V6 in the Tom Henry RS. We installed new, Yella Terra "Ultralite" 1.8:1, aluminum roller rocker arms, Katech valve springs and Katech titanium retainers on our 3800 Series II V6.
