I am having a terrible problem with oil leaks on a 97 v6 firebird. We bought the car used and a few months after we got it, there was an oil leak, turned out to be the oil pan gasket. They fixed it and it was fine for over a year and then it started leaking bad, really bad. That time it was the rear main seal, the mechanic said it was pretty common for these cars, which after reading on here, I see it is. This was about 8 months ago,it was not leaking at all until last week. Now the car is out of warranty and it is leaking again and getting worse. Could it be the rear main seal again, I sure hope not, as it was quite expensive, and it should last more than 8 months. Any suggestions on what it might be or where to look?

Not sure on the pan gasket as it was under warranty, but the rear main seal was somewhere around $500

At the end of Part Three, we changed the valvetrain of the 3.8-liter V6 in the Tom Henry RS. We installed new, Yella Terra "Ultralite" 1.8:1, aluminum roller rocker arms, Katech valve springs and Katech titanium retainers on our 3800 Series II V6.
Ultralites are nearly 25% lighter than the stock 1.6 rockers and 8% lighter than the SLP aluminum...
