  • Anyone change the front seats to aftermarket "racing" style seats?

I'm thinking of ditchng my front seats. The drivers side is power and the passenger side isn't. Maybe install some nice looking lightweight seats in their place. Anyone done that? How much does a front powered seat weigh?

my corbeau carreras weigh just as much as the regular seats do. but they "LOOK" like racing seats. there are some 14 lb seats out there, i was just going for looks and comfort at the time i got mine.
6s.......under the hood or under the belt, they just dont cut it.

I'd whip that 5.9 :D :D No really....gimme a head start. I'll race you with the 1985 Nissan Pickup 2.4 I just got :rotfl: Now that I have a daily driver, I'm going with a N2O setup first then maybe a cam. I've been looking at turbo kits also. You should go to www.jeepcrazed.com and hook up with some local Jeep nuts. I bought a house in Masterson Station.

I have the same setup in mine. I weighed mine. One of them was 28 lbs.... but I don't remember which one.

I do remember that the Carrera's I put in it, both of them together, weighed the same as the electric driver and non-electric passenger combined.

But they do look cool. And if I ever get my harnesses installed, they'll hold me in place a little better for autocross too. For now I still use the stock belts.

(oh yeah - Nino - thanks for passing along the coil packs and icm!! I've been meaning to tell you that.)

There are some Sparco seats that have a carbon fiber base that are VERY lightweight but they are about $1100.00

i bought the corbeau carreras cause of looks. they where the cheaper seats on the market. and that is for a reason - they are cheaply made. i have had them now for 2 years and my drivers side is all worn out. i even had to superglue some parts the day they arrived :( nevertheless, they get all the looks, but i can tell they are cheap seats. i got the ones that recline (i have been known to sleep in my car from time to time) if you get seats that dont recline, i assure you you will be very dissapointed. heck, i have been thinking about selling mine and buying some leather seats, but i really like the red and black scheme i have going on.

YEP, $86 a pop if i remember right. all in all it cost just around $1000 for both seats, brackets, shipping, and a $30 install.

I got a good deal from stranoparts.com on mine.

One thing you should look into, if you're tall, is having the seats shaved. I think it was an extra $50. The stock Carrera's are taller than stock... The shaved ones are just a bit shorter.
