I saw a picture of a totally gutted out 4th gen that had a 502 in it :D Not exactly a normal car though ;) But the engine fit... all the electronics and crap were gone though since it was an older motor of course, so it was basically an older car in a newer body.

Putting an older motor in a newer car is illegal or something isn't it? I could have swore i heard that before

the 3.8 uses the 60* bellhouse pattern(even tho its a 90*v6)the biggest engine the fits that bellhouse is the cadillac northstar 4.6l dohc v8

Hell if I know if it's illegal to put an older motor in a newer car... maybe it was a track-only car though.

wolf... any-size motor pretty much will fit in our cars... it's just a matter of modifying the car to make it fit. 4.6l isn't the biggest... an LS1 will fit in out cars.

the ls1 and other chevy v8s have a differn't bellhousing bolt pattern, but your right ,its not hard to put a different engine in there, hell ive seen a camaro with a small block chrysler v8 in it

If you're putting a BBC in there you should probably get a TH400 also. Why would you keep the 4L60E behind a serious engine? It's only good for 10s.

what about the 9.0L (I believe) ZL1 Prototype Camaro?

0-60 in an eyeblink (2.4sec)
and ran a 9.4@145MPH Not too shabby for being N/A

Its not illegal to put an older motor into a newer car. People do it all the time. I'm not exactly sure what the largest engine size possible is but I know you can fit a 502 ci big block easy enough and you could beef up the 4L60E or step up to the 4L80E trans for the power and firm shifts it would provide. The 4L**E trans are good trans but they could be built to withstand a lot more power and be a lot more durable with the right parts and if the drivetrain is strengthened as well

Lingenfelter should have made a camaro. The 2002 vette is no slouch... 0-60 in 1.9... 1/4 mile in 9.2. 802 horsepower. Kinda off topic... but a sweet car nonetheless.

That's right,it's not illegal. It only has to pass smog if your state requires those type of checks. So you put in a 502,you still have to pass smog for a 3.4 or 3.8 or whatever. If you get what I mean ;)
