  • Vacuum Line missing

Hey, Im new to the forum, and I know there are alot of people here with helpful info. I ahve a 96 Firebird with a 3.8. My car is running really bad. Rough idle, sputtering when accelerating. I found that on the pass. side, there is a vacuum line missing from one of the egr devices. It is the round one located further back, not the square on in the front. There are 2 vacuum lines in it right now, 1 big one on the front going to the other little square device. The other is located on the back, and it goes sround the back of the manifold, and connects to some vacuum line. There is one on the side that is missing. Does anyone have a diagram, or know where that line goes, all there is is a spigot sticking out, and no vacuum lines in sight. Someone please help, and could this also be the cause of my car running bad. Please help.

Yes, a missing (or even leaking or cracked) vacuum line can definitely cause the problems you described. There should be a diagram on the underside of your hood, showing the vacuum line routings.

There is a diagram, but the round egr device it shows has only 2 lines, but there is three on there. Can someone with a 96 or 97 Firebird/Camaro with a 3.8 check to see where the vacuum line coming out of the left goes to. Thanks

I just went out and checked and that spigot you refered to is vented to the open air, so it is supposed to be like that. I don't have any problems so my guess is thist isn't your culprit. Hopefully someone else will look and see that if theirs is the same way.

By the way...Bristol TN??? if so we should set up a Thursday for members in this area to head to Thunder Valley for Thursday Night Street Fights.

Sorry, thats bristol RI. I am going to check that other vacuum line, because it is off a little, and it as a little dry rotted. I am going to replace all of the lines, and clean the egr system.
