  • Funny sound when I take off or Rev

When I rev the car up it's fine, but on the down part it makes this funny noise, it's hard to describe, almost like something metal is hitting together. The same sounds comes up when I start to take off. Sorry that the description is vague but please help!

does it sound like a sqeaking rat like sound?

if so it could be a slight heat shield rattle, or bolt.

with my headers, no matter how tight i tighten the y pip flanges to the header, the bolts still let out a squeak when revving

same thing on mine, unbolt the hearder to y pipe bolts, they need 2 washers. the bolts are bottomed out.

Loctite probably melts off after the exhaust reaches operating temp. I'd find someone who can weld it for you.

I think I know what you are talking about. Can you hear it from inside your car? I have only heard it once on my car...and not from the inside. I was oblivious to the fact that there was this very quick rattling/grinding as I let it die down from a about a 4,000 rev. It came on for just a split second. My friend was video taping and I was watching it later and noticed it. Otherwise, I wouldn't have known. I think that's the only time it did it or I heard it...of course I don't normally rev my engine or stand outside my car and let another dude rev it.

I don't know what it is. Heat shield maybe? Possibly. I have a dynomax super turbo muffler back there with dual tips. Automatic tranny if that makes a difference at all(which it shouldn't). Hope you figure it out.
Yes, I know \"Artic\" should be spelled \"Arctic\". Can any of the mods change this?

I have a rattling sound on the way down when I rev mine up over 3500, but only when it is in neutral, and I can definitely here it from the inside. Where is the heat shield?
And samg97camaro does it sound like it is coming from the front or is it underneath around the cat?

it is your heat sheild located near the y-pipe
flowmaster, ram air intake, 8mm ignition wires, Z-28 coil over springs, IAT sensor chip(dont work)
