Ok, here's the deal, being the idiot than I am, i was drivin' down to my house when i hit a bump, and I had a coke bottle (those old-school glass ones) in the cup holder but the thing tipped and it went all over my transmission, i rapidly cleaned it but now that i start up my car, my transmission (its an automatic) is hard to shift down to "Drive" , and when i say hard, i mean really tough to get it down to Drive, the console feels like it's gonna come off and stuff..... so here's my question, should i just take off the whole console and clean it really good and then my problem will be solved? or what have i done to it?

you only got the stuff on your linkage, not your tranny. put your shifter in N and pull that plastic piece that surrounds it up. pull the nob off, youll figure out how to do it when you see it, and clean it really good with soap and water. then clean up the linkage and stuff, but remember to grease it back up. do a thourough check of the linkage and cables and stuff to see what else may have gotten coke on it. clean up linkage with a wet rag and make sure it is totally dry and greased when done. armorall the plastic cover piece and put the shift nob back on. you should be good to go from there, post what you do or did and what the results were. good luck
